Le Taillonnais is a fairly new addition to the St Ciers du Taillon commune. Situated on the roadside, this delightful little restaurant has a couple of tables and chairs outside with bright red sun shade canopies, giving the place a traditional French appeal. Inside the decor is modern, with an open kitchen, well spaced dressed tables and chairs, with each table having a regional icon ornament; a little escargot.
The menu offers ‘plate du jour’ from as little as 9.50 euro up to 14.00 euro. There are various set menus and a la carte on offer. Food is fairly traditional with steaks, seafood and in season dishes. We had the cod fillet in sauce, bavet steak with blue cheese sauce and the house burger cooked to your liking. Afterwards we all had the chocolate fondant which oozed a delicious liquid flowing sauce.
The service was very good and attentive. The food is well cooked and good value, but generally the menu has similar dishes to many of the regions restaurants.
